The Director of Health Services is responsible for coordinating the health services in the Medical Center (Skilled Nursing Facility) and Personal Care (Assisted Living), arranging home health services and operation of the on-campus physician medial office for the residents of Canterbury Woods in Pacific Grove, CA. Reports to the Executive Director. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required.
Formulation of plans related to health services provided by Canterbury S/he works with the Executive Director to integrate these plans into overall campus objectives, plans and programs.
Assures that an appropriate plan for health care services is in place for levels of care provided and for individuals with special needs.
Recommending specific proposals for entry into or departure from specific healthcare services offered on the campus, or contracted with outside provider.
Providing optimum utilization of health services staff insuring that medical units are staffed with competent personnel and that these persons are delegated the appropriate authority and responsibility to perform their jobs.
Responsible, under guidelines and staffing levels required by regulatory agencies and authorized by the corporate office for working with the Executive Director to insure that staffing, salary and wage structures are developed, maintained and properly controlled.
Responsible for insuring that authorized health care services plans and services are properly executed and that the Executive Director is kept informed as to the overall conditions and trends affecting the community.
Evaluating the need for an effectiveness of existing or proposed health care policies; authorizes changes in policy within established guidelines and recommends to the Executive Director appropriate action for establishment of policy.
Ensuring that budget goals are met within the community and recommend policies and basic procedures governing those budgets and financial controls.
Accountable to the Executive Director for proper interpretation and fulfillment of her functions, responsibilities and authority.
Providing a workplace atmosphere in which a high degree of morale can be maintained.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read, speak well, and be understood in the English language
Good understanding of long term care, Medicare, Title 22, Title 42 (OBRA)
Must have attention to detail, follow through and good interpersonal/problem solving ability
Ability to understand and comply with applicable federal, state and local regulations and requirements<span
Computer skills adequate for word processing, spreadsheets and email.
Ability to work cooperatively with facility staff, physicians, residents, families, ancillary service providers, and consultants
Licensed RN in the State of California
Minimum five years health administration experience in hospital, skilled nursing facility or retirement residence
Working knowledge of State Regulations as they pertain to an RCFE
