The Director of Nursing (DON) manages and directs the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department, under the supervision of the Administrator, in accordance with established policies, procedures and practices that comply with federal, state and local regulations. He/she demonstrates knowledge of the patient's physical,social, emotional and psychological needs based on the health care required. In addition, the (DON) ensures adequate staffing patterns and that staff are qualified and trained.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, a current license as a Registered Nurse, at least three years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing or equivalent supervisory nursing experience. Experience in an assisted living community or long term care setting highly preferred. Candidates must have a genuine desire to help others, strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficiency with computers and business software.

The California Armenian Home is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 by the local Armenian community, which generously donated 40-acres of land in Fresno, California’s southeast countryside, the building, and the funds to furnish a continuing care retirement community. Today, 65 years later, the renowned California Armenian Home provides both short and long-term 24-hour skilled nursing and rehabilitation residency, independent living, assisted living and memory care and takes most insurance programs. The 5-star California Armenian Home and The Vineyards welcomes adults 60+ of any national origin and includes dedicated and caring professional staff and volunteers. The California Armenian Home currently has 150 residents and the Vineyards currently has 50 residents, and is projected to have 150 residents in the next six to twelve months. Upon a full census, the Home and the Vineyards will have an annual budget in excess of $20 million and more than 200 staff members.
