ChristianaCare is searching for a full-time health psychologist to join its team of embedded psychologists with a focus on Heart Failure. This individual will work with the Heart Failure clinical team in the Newark campus, a 961-bed teaching hospital located in Newark, DE. Additional responsibilities may include program development, collaboration in behavioral research and clinical supervision of psychology practicum students and interns.
The work schedule is Monday-Friday; no weeknight and weekend call. Virtual and in-person behavioral health appointments will be provided.
Key Job Duties:
Conducts pre-surgical assessments with heart failure patients to evaluate for readiness for LVAD procedure.
Collaborates with Consult and Liaison psychology to provide bedside clinical interviews on the cardiac units and throughout the hospital to provide diagnostic impression and treatment recommendations using evidenced-based psychological interventions for concerns including anxiety, depression, somatic symptom and related disorders, medication non-adherence, pain, substance abuse/dependence, suicidal ideation, death and dying.
Attends and participates on collaborative, interdisciplinary teams and during rounds.
Treats heart failure patients in the outpatient cardiology clinic located on the Newark campus.
Serves as a faculty member of ChristianaCare's Psychology Internship program, including clinical supervision of a psychology intern.
Contributes to the professional development of ChristianaCare caregivers by providing consultation, education and suggesting best practice alternatives as appropriate.
Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited psychology program, a pre-doctoral internship from an APA-accredited site, and experience in a medical setting. Applicants must be eligible for license in Delaware.
