This announcement will be open until a selection is made. The incumbent will work as a member of the Medicine Service at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, collaborating with other services to provide medical care to veterans enrolled in the VA Healthcare System. Duties include but not limited to the following: The Medical Service Nocturnist Staff is a hospitalist responsible for providing care to hospitalized adult patients, identifying health problems, and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs during overnight hours. Hours of coverage subject to change based on needs of patient care. Staffing patients seen by the house staff for admission and consultation if it is urgently needed to guide surgical treatment. Being available to staff procedures done during the tour of duty. Being available for acute medical issues that arise on any patient admitted to the general medicine services. Completing educational evaluations for the night float house staff as required by the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Adherence to VA policies and procedures regarding documentation, patient safety, and utilization. Independently assess patients for admission and disposition when dictated by house staff schedule and regulations. Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a Base-Line Salary ($200,000-$282,480) range estimate for a full-time work schedule. Starting salary will be set based on locality (which may include a special pay rate depending upon location), as well as FT, PT or Intermittent employment. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 26 days paid annual leave (carryover up to 86 days), 13 days paid annual sick leave (unlimited carryover), 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory and you can practice anywhere in VHA. CME: Possible $1,000 per year stipend + possible 1 week paid authorized absence to attend. Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting and no restrictive covenants.
