The position also provides care in outpatient PM&R clinics as directed by the Chief, PM&R. Assigned Duties: Provides medical/rehabilitation care to Veterans and Active Duty personnel through clinical evaluation and treatment within the inpatient WBRC/Polytrauma programs and outpatient PM&R/PNS clinics. Provides medical care and rehabilitation team coordination for Veterans and Active Duty personnel within the WBRC/Polytrauma System of Care. Primary responsibilities is within the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center (WBRC) with outpatient PM&R/PSC/RAC clinic coverage as needed. Ensures clinical appropriateness of the treatment of patients served, including timely and appropriate transition to other levels of care, notation of contraindications and precautions of care. Supervises and educates/trains PM&R residents in clinical activities relevant to PM&R and Polytrauma. Conducts daily rounds with the PM&R residents, nursing, and other members of the interdisciplinary team and communicates/interacts daily with the team as indicated. Collaborates with other services to ensure appropriate and timely consultation and coordination of care. Assists in the identification of training and educational needs for the PSC, and provides education and training for all members of the clinical staff as needed. Assists in the timely processing of referrals of patients in the inpatient Polytrauma programs following timeliness metrics. Participates in telehealth between inpatient sites and the appropriate military treatment facilities or other referral sources/patients as needed. Facilitates the provision of 24/7 rehabilitation physician coverage in the PSC. Performs electromyography/nerve conduction studies, ultrasounds, and conducts general PM&R clinics as needed. Performs PM&R consultations as directed by the Chief, PM&R Ensures the ongoing provision of care that complies with the "Organization Code of Ethics" for VA. Participates in performance improvement activities of PM&R/PSC/RAC including T JC and GARF preparation. Actively participates in advocacy activities, program development, establishment of program policies/procedures, marketing/promoting, strategic planning and other activities as defined by the Chief, PM&R.
