The role you’ll contribute:
The Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual support and services to hospice patients and their care givers and family members, hospice staff, and the staff of associated residential facilities. This position also should be able to relate supportively to all faiths and assisting the patient/family in clarifying their spiritual welfare and concerns as well as arranging for other spiritual support or counseling.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Assists the patient/family in clarifying their spiritual welfare and concerns and arrange for other spiritual support or counsels by performing the following functions.
- Acts as liaison with the religious leader of the patient/family or spiritual community, as appropriate.
- Makes initial pastoral care assessment of the patient/family within 5 days of the patient's admission.
- Designs a pastoral care plan and oversee its implementation.
- Make bereavement calls to the patient's family with 2 working days of the patient's death; give bereavement support; and provide bereavement assessment to the bereavement coordinator.
- Conducts and support hospice bereavement groups in cooperation with the bereavement staff.
- Promotes the role of hospice and develop a supportive network between HOTC and clergy, churches, synagogues and community organizations.
- Participates in non-medical on call after hours (evenings, nights and weekends) and support other chaplains with coverage during vacations and other times, as needed.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of current counseling theories and practices in the performance of duties in compliance with the legal and ethical parameters established and based on the level of education and certification attained by the employee.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing, and typing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record.
- Ability to follow standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment when indicated.
- Ability to complete AdventHealth Hospice Care CFL Orientation and Training, as necessary.
- Ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural and religious differences.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree
- PRN- Level 1 - Minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education completed, at a center accredited by ACPE, Inc.
PREFERRED:
- Completion of a Master of Divinity, Master of Science in Spiritual Care, or graduate level degree (72-hour minimum) in theology, religion or related field.
- Clinical Pastoral Education Residency or completion of 3 or more units of ACPE, Inc. accredited CPE
- Congregational Pastoral leadership
